
4pm-leave for crabtree falls
5pm-arrive, as does the rain
5:30pm-set up camp, rains on and off
6-7pm-eat, explore a bit
7pm-put hutch to bed
7:01pm-downpour begins
9ish pm-thunderstorm begins. hutch wakes up.
10ish pm-the slow drip in the tent begins
11ishpm-inside of the tent drenched, but less drenched than outside
1am-alex calls the trip. hutch and i join the dogs in the 4runner,
alex spends half an hour breaking down camp (husband and father of the year)
3am-home sweet home
best night of his life award-hutch. was awake and giddy from 9pm-3am. he jumped around the tent like popcorn in a popper. hence the roof of the tent stuck to the fly and the dripping started. however, between time outside and getting to be a night owl, he was in love with camping.
worst night of his life award-devo. thundertstorms and fourth of july are devo's worst nightmare. at 1am, we found him shaking and wedged underneath the steering wheel. he is not a small dog.
